Greg rolled over hearing Alexander let out a soft cry kissing Mia's cheek softly letting her know he'd get him so she could rest. He slipped out of bed and stretched in his flannel pants and made his way to Alexander's room. When he arrived he saw his son standing in the crib tears in his eyes and Greg went and scooped him up and sat down with him.
"You okay baby boy? no more tears, daddy is here and mommy isn't far away"
He cradled his young son close and kissed the top of his head smiling as the small body curled against his bare chest, Alexander's head resting over his heart listening to the steady soothing beat. He rubbed his back lovingly and began to sing gently to him to lull him off to sleep.
"Hush a bye baby, on the tree top,
When the wind blows the cradle will rock;
When the bow breaks, the cradle will fall,
And down will come baby, cradle and all."
He relaxed there for a few hours as Alexander fell asleep in his arms he kissed his head gently smiling as he watched his tiny chest rise and fall in a contented slumber. He gently stood rocking him and laid him down in the crib covering him gently.
"Sleep tight baby boy"
Before he left he placed his son's favorite stuffed animal beside him watching a small arm grab at it as soon as he felt it. He slipped out quietly turning off the light and slid back into bed curling into his wife. He was getting good at this daddy thing he thought.
